Changes… What a Weekend.
So, last week’s theme was Waiting. This week… Change.
Last night at church, Stephen went before our beloved friends and read his resignation. We will be leaving FBC Vandalia on September 14 after eight years of ministry there. It’s a good move, and we’re really excited, overwhelmed, ready to dig in, scared to death… everything wrapped into one.
God has guided us through this process of change and we know he will continue to mark our path and carry us through the next three weeks.
This week my goals seem simple:
Two simple words that really aren’t as simple as the 9 letters that make up the words. I enjoy painting. I semi-enjoy packing. But right now I’m kinda overwhelmed, almost to the point of shutting down. We went to Lowe’s tonight and looked at paint swatches. I think I’ve settle what I want. We’re mainly trying to get the kids rooms painted BEFORE there’s anything in them… it’s so much easier that way. We’ve got some help offered and it’ll be welcomed.
Packing. How to even begin packing. Two moves ago we didn’t pack. It was a less than five-mile move so we kinda just chucked everything into cars, vans, suberbans, trailors and put it into the house. It was HORRIBLE. I would NEVER recommend doing that. Last move we did pack, by room, and LABELED the boxes. It worked really well. However, I didn’t start soon enough and so the last minute stuff that truly is just STUFF just got thrown into bags and it’s STILL in the garage unbagged. However, I must preface that by saying we moved to this house the last weekend of November last year.
Yes, we’ve only been here 9 months.
We have a track record of moving. Not locations, simply houses/homes. We’ve been at the same jobs and church for eight years. But…We’ve lived at…
1585 Charter Ridge Drive, Apt 2 (11 months)
545 Valley Oak Ct (11 months)
606 Wolf Avenue (2 years)
606 West Martindale (2 1/2 years)
1596 Jackson Road (1 1/2 years)
and Stonequarry Road (9 months)
That’s SIX homes and we’ll celebrate our NINTH anniversary this December. All the moves were purpose-filled…none unnecessary, but still…come on!!! After we get moved into our new home we’re staying there… ALMOST to forever.
Well, I’m going to sign off for tonight. I need to take care of some computer work still and it’s late. Maddie is going to school tomorrow for her first day. We FINALLY were able to know which school district she would be in. She’ll be a Greyhound!
Oh, and I never did clarify this above… On September 28th, we will embark on a whole new chapter in our lives… Stephen will start his new position as Lead Pastor at FBC New Lebanon. We are really excited to see what God will do in this next chapter and how God will use our previous chapters for His glory in this next story. Good night.
