Do you like the titled? As opposed to dreaming/praying BIG… I’m going to be thinking small… committing to small… you get the drift. You see, I’ve got to get serious about losing some weight. Not to be a contestant on America’s Next Top Model (last was my last shot…I turned 28 in October and 27 is the cut off… I’m not kidding!) but so that I can be healthy, a positive example to my kids, and honestly so that I’m comfortable in my skin again…
Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. SO GLORIFY GOD IN YOUR BODY! 1 Corinthians 6:19 & 20
So, what’s a girl to do. I worked with a friend several years ago and lost a significant amount of weight and I’ve kept off about half of it… Not great, not horrendous… It just is. I’m drawing a lot from her right now… and she drew from somewhere I’m just not sure where.
The key to any resolve is to set goals. And in order to succeed at a goal, a goal must be smart… rather S.M.A.R.T.
S – Specific
M – Measurable
A – Attainable
R – Realistic
T – Time
Saying that I’m going to lose weight is not SMART… it’s not specific, therefore it can’t be measured, which means it can’t be attained, therefore it sets myself up to fail, which I hate doing and is honestly one of the things that keeps me from trying to lose weight. So, here’s the deal…
My goal is to lose 35 pounds by July 1st.
35 pounds by July 1st is specific… It’s measurable (that’s what the bathroom scale’s all about…)… It’s attainable (it will take discipline, it’s not crazy)… It’s realistic (a realistic weight loss is anywhere from 1 – 2 pounds a week, 35 pounds by July 1st is right in that range… It’s on a time table…
So, what’s the plan you ask. Well, I’m going to be setting smaller goals every week or so that should help me in my endeavor. It’ll all be under this page by week and goal. I’ll tracking my weight loss as well so that I have some sort of accountability, not this is the best form of accountability, but I’ve got to get some sort of it going so on I go…
Hear O Lord, be merciful to me! O Lord, be my helper! Psalm 30:10

Hey Charity,
Just wanted you to know, I am with you sister!
I am struggling with my weight and have been for the last 20 years or so. I am going to Weightwatchers and it is helping, but I really need to focus more on what God can do for me! Anyway, I just wanted you know that there is someone close by sharing the same issues. (even if I am 15 year older).
By the way, I love your blog…Your writing is not only beautiful, it’s encouraging.
Thanks,
Robin Davenport
